New Foodie Fun in Rochester

Hello again, it’s me, Joseph! I’m on the move and ready for all things Spring. We’ve had quite a roller coaster of weather but it looks like we’ll land in the season of new beginnings, sooner rather than later. Speaking of all things new, we’ve seen some great foodie fun sprouting up around Rochester.

Martine

It’s a new cocktail bar in the South Wedge in what used to be Cheshire and Solera (647 South Ave.)

They serve made to order craft cocktails, as well as embracing a new trend: serving premade cocktails on draft. #yes There’s even a fun size just to have a taste!

As mentioned in the Democrat and Chronicle: “To expound on that format, and be a little bit cheeky and spelling cocktails with a ‘K’ because they come from kegs,” he said.

And Martine is complete with wine, beer, “elevated” cocktail food (they only have a small kitchen, so no entrees), and even a full secondary bar upstairs.

Lucky for you, our South Wedge Retreat, South Wedge Loft, and South Wedge Quarter are literally just around the corner! (Book now!)

Funky Cow Cafe

Located in the hottest spot of Park Avenue, this funky cafe offers sweet and savory goodness like you’ve never tasted before.  Seriously, think waffles infused with herbs for the perfect light and airy crunch in sandwiches like Lola’s Cuban, Bangin’ Brisket and more.  If sweet is more your style, you can’t go wrong with Apple-A-La-Moo or S’mores Explosion.

Public Provisions

If you’re a fan of the public market, you’re a fan of Public Provisions. #bestbreakfastsammieever

It’s a full service cafe and restaurant located at Rochester Public Market.

Think- breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch, bakery (Flour City Bread is now inside it), drinks all under one roof and farm to table fresh.

Vinalia Urbana

“Bold flavors. Serious Sips. Chill vibes.” Literally just opened on Monroe Avenue and reservations are a must. Here’s the latest from Yahoo News-

Named for an ancient Roman festival of the wine harvest, Vinalia Urbana will highlight organic and biodynamic wines ― “really good small producers that not a lot of people know,” Cutaia said. Local beers will be served on draft; the plan is to eventually add cocktails.

The menu at the sit-down restaurant will be seasonal, heavily locally sourced and will change often ― “really focusing on good quality ingredients and treating them accordingly,” Arliss said. “This has been a long time coming and I feel really good about having something to say.”

The French Quarter

If authentic cajun is more you’re style, we’ve got you covered in the space that was once McGinnity’s on West Ridge Road.  Just a hop, skip and jump down the parkway from our #PineappleROC  Lakefront Collection.  Dine in and take it to go including cocktails!

We’re also keeping our eyes open for what’s coming:

Angelina’s on South

This restaurant  is currently under construction at 689 South Ave. in the South Wedge, in the former home to The Toasted Bear Tavern, and before that, Beale Street Cafe.

From the Democrat and Chronicle, “I couldn’t get a better location,” he said. “All the activity’s right there.” The 4,000-square-foot space is being spruced up and it will become a friendly neighborhood bar and restaurant. The menu will include steak, pasta, seafood, vegetarian dishes and “sorta craft cocktails” ― good cocktails that won;t take 10 minutes to make, Caranddo said.

The Crescent Beach

We’ve been waiting over a decade for this place to re-open! Could 2024 be the year?  No idea, as nothing has been announced but rest assured it will be worth waiting for.

“The restaurant will have 300 seats and a party room upstairs. The gazebo where many Rochesterians have been married will be preserved and restored. A huge patio will offer idyllic lake views. Customers will be able to arrive by boat.

Watch for a classic menu, Sunday brunches and a new wedding venue. An opening date has not been set.” (source-Democrat and Chronicle)

Cheers to new beginnings, new ways and places to celebrate. As always it would be an honor to host you and make your holidays happen!
